TROWBRIDGE SECTION TEAM CHALLENGE
19th September 2004

Trowbridge Snooker Centre, hosted the first round of this year's tournament. There was a good entry of 20 teams including 3 teams from the host club.

In the final of the main competition the Jesters A team of Dean Hollick, Steve Dunn, Craig Hollick and Lee Evans beat the Poole B team, Jamie Ellis, Matt McCallum, Alex Tait and Jonathon Sparks.

Congratulations to the Jesters A team from Swindon's Jesters Snooker Club.

The plate competition was won by Poole A who beat Basingstoke A in the final.

Jesters Snooker Club, Swindon, hosted the second round of this year's tournament. There was another good entry of 26 teams including 5 teams from the host club and also good support from Gosport who made the long journey with 3 teams.

In the first round, byes were awarded to Jesters E, Trowbridge A, Riley's Cardiff, Basingstoke A, Jesters A and Poole B.

In the last 16 there were victories for Jesters C, Gosport B, Trowbridge A, Basingstoke B, Poole A, GreenBaize A,Trowbridge B and Jesters A.

The plate competition was won by Aldershot (Dale Mears, Dominic Birch, Ryan Mears and David Joce) who beat Eastleigh A 5-1.

Gosport's Stoke Snooker Club played host to round 4 of the Section team Challenge. 18 teams entered including 3 from the home club.

2 preliminary matches were required in which Trowbridge C beat Eastleigh A and Aldershot beat Stoke B.

The final was won by Chandlers Ford A who recorded a convincing win of 4-0 against Salisbury A. This was Chandlers Ford's second victory in a row so congratulations to the winning team of Peter Maraziotis, Nick Jennings, Daniel Hildyard and Arran Newman.
The Salisbury A team was Adam Guyatt, Antony Foxcroft, Mark Green and Martin Cannings.

The Plate competition was won by Trowbridge A (Andy Mayall, David Carroll, Brad Brown and Ian Meaker) who were 4-2 winners over Chandlers Ford B.

Salisbury Snooker Club was the venue for round 5 of the Team Challenge with a record number of 28 teams entering the event.
Once again 2 teams travelled from Cardiff. Thatcham and Bracknell were represented whilst Trowbridge, Basingstoke and Gosport had the biggest contingents of 3 teams each.

4 teams received byes into the last 16 - Poole B, GreenBaize, Trowbridge B and Stoke A.

In the last 16 , there were wins for Poole B, Boscombe A, GreenBaize, Jesters B, Chandlers Ford A, Jesters A, Salisbury A and Aldershot.

Poole's Ambassador Club was the venue for round 6 of the Section Team Challenge. There was another excellent entry of 27 teams with the host club providing 4 of them. Gosport, Trowbridge and Basingstoke fielded 3 teams each.

Byes were awarded to Boscombe A, Basingstoke A, Trowbridge B and GreenBaize in the first round.
Winners in the last 16 were Salisbury A, Bracknell, Jesters B, Poole A, GreenBaize, Chandlers Ford A, Jesters A and Eastleigh A.

Well done Jesters on a tremendous achievement.

The Trowbridge A team of Brad Brown, David Carroll, Ben Harrison and Ian Meaker won the plate competition with a 2-0 victory over Gosport A.

Well done also to Aaran Newman of Chandlers Ford for recording a new highest break of 40 during this tournament.

Round 7, the penultimate of this season's Section Team Challenge was hosted by Aldershot's Breaks Snooker Club. 20 teams entered the event. Eastleigh provided 3 teams whilst there was the usual good support from Basingstoke, Chandlers Ford, Salisbury and Trowbridge.
4 preliminary ties were required resulting in victories for Poole A, Stonehenge, Trowbridge B and Aldershot.

The last 16 produced wins for Poole A. Trowbridge B, Salisbury A, Jesters A, Eastleigh A, Basingstoke A, Jesters B and Chandlers Ford A.

This was their third competition victory of the season so well done Chandlers Ford A on a tremendous achievement.

Eastleigh B (Stewart Crosswell, Daniel Woods, Daniel Tickner and Lucy Horton) won the plate competition by defeating Bracknell in the final.

19th December 2004

The final team event of the season was held at The Academy, Eastleigh.
By this time Jesters A had an unassailable lead in the rankings. Nevertheless, with the minor places still to be decided there was another very large turnout of 22 teams. With only 9 tables available at the club, some of the first round matches were played at Chandlers Ford Snooker Club.

Cuestars would like to express its appreciation to Chandlers Ford Snooker Club for their generosity and hospitality.

5 preliminary matches were played, with wins for Poole A, Jesters B, Trowbridge C, Basingstoke B and Gosport A.

In the last 16 there were wins for Poole A, Trowbridge C, Bracknell, Salisbury A, Basingstoke A, Trowbridge B and Chandlers Ford B.

With only 11 tables available initially, the competition got off to a slow start and Cuestars players are to be commended for showing patience and understanding during the early stages of the tournament.

The final between Jason Hildyard and Adam Bobat was a repeat of the previous final at Poole. Adam was playing in his third final of the season whilst Jason was looking to make it three U12 wins in succession.

For the first time, the Mayfair Snooker Club hosted the U21 event whilst the U15s and U12s played at the Stoke Snooker Club.
31 players entered the U21 event, there were 45 entries in the U15 and 16 in the U12.

The 7th and final round of this season's Cuestars Junior Open Competition was held at Salisbury Snooker Club.
Much was at stake as several players still had the chance of topping the rankings and becoming Cuestars Rankings Champion.
In the U21 competition, both Ryan Mears and Alex Tait had a chance of winning the title, The U15 competition was likely to be won by one of the top five, Adam Guyatt, Mark Green, Jake Baker, Humza Khan or Scott Coker, whilst in the U12s, the winner would be either Jason Hildyard or Adam Bobat.

118 players attended the event, the highest entry of the season. There were 37 entries in the U21, 52 in the U15 and 29 in the U12 competition.
