The 15-year-old, based at The Academy in Eastleigh, emerged victorious from the final with a 2-1 victory over Thyas Evans (Trowbridge).

A spirited performance by Evans, who finished fifth in the under-12s last season, forced a decider.

Bell, undefeated all day, cleared from the green with Evans needing snookers.

“He’s a good little player for his age,” admitted Bell.

Gary Wilkins (left) and Ryan Gavin

He edged out Gary Wilkins (Trowbridge) 2-1 in the final.

Gavin, based at the town’s Liberal Club, was certainly not in a generous mood – knocking in breaks of 23, 25 and 29 and losing only one of his seven matches.

Bradley Hatch (The Academy, Eastleigh) was the only player to record a victory in the group stages over the eventual champion.

In the semi-finals, Gavin disposed of Swindon’s Jodie Symes who is ranked 22nd on the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association circuit.

Cuestars director John Hunter was delighted with the way the first event went.

“It couldn’t have gone better," he said. “It has been a long time since I got from a competition start to its end without any hassle! And like the players appeared to do, I enjoyed the event immensely.”
