Winbourne strikes Gold in Salisbury ENGLAND international Jordan Winbourne has been installed as early favourite for the Cuestars Under-21 Gold Tour after clinching the inaugural tournament at Salisbury Snooker Club. ![]() Kevin Impett (left) and Jordan Winbourne In an all Southampton final, the 13-year-old defeated Kevin Impett, 18, 2-1 from 1-0 down. Winbourne edged out Chandler’s Ford club-mate and Group A winner Jordan Sainsbury 3-2 in the last four. Impett, based at Rileys in Shirley, dropped just one of seven frames to take top spot in Group B. He came back from 2-0 down to beat Mark Green (Salisbury) 3-2 in the second semi. Bell on song SOUTHAMPTON teenager Lee Bell struck the first blow in his bid to claim the Cuestars Under-21 Silver Tour title at Salisbury Snooker Club. ![]() Lee Bell (left) and Thyas Evans The 15-year-old, based at The Academy in Eastleigh, emerged victorious from the final with a 2-1 victory over Thyas Evans (Trowbridge). A spirited performance by Evans, who finished fifth in the under-12s last season, forced a decider. Bell, undefeated all day, cleared from the green with Evans needing snookers. “He’s a good little player for his age,” admitted Bell. The early favourite sees Bradley Chappell (Green Baize, Bournemouth), Lee Warner (Stoke SC, Gosport) and club-mate Liam Burnet as his main rivals for the title. Gavin, based at the town’s Liberal Club, was certainly not in a generous mood – knocking in breaks of 23, 25 and 29 and losing only one of his seven matches. Bradley Hatch (The Academy, Eastleigh) was the only player to record a victory in the group stages over the eventual champion. In the semi-finals, Gavin disposed of Swindon’s Jodie Symes who is ranked 22nd on the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association circuit. Cuestars director John Hunter was delighted with the way the first event went. “It couldn’t have gone better," he said. “It has been a long time since I got from a competition start to its end without any hassle! And like the players appeared to do, I enjoyed the event immensely.”
