SALISBURY’S snooker hotshot Mark Green (left) has regained his place on the elite tour for the country’s best 48 players aged under-21.
The talented teenager will next season compete on the English Association of Snooker & Billiards Premier Junior Tour after finishing top of the South West regional qualifying series.
Green, based at Salisbury Snooker Club, won two of the five tournaments and finished runner-up in the other three. And his 106 clearance was the highest break in the region.
In the final event at the Ambassador Snooker Club, Poole, the 18-year-old won all three group-stage matches 3-0 and chalked up the top break of 79.
After accounting for Declan Bristow (Bristol) 2-0 in the last-four, he eased past Michael Rogers (Taunton) 2-0 in the final.
“It was pleasing to be consistent throughout the year, getting to the final in every event,” said Green. “Hopefully, next year, I can build on this success.”
The Bishop Wordsworth’s School pupil was awarded a Sports Bursary for Snooker funded by Assisi Travel.
Green lost his Premier Tour place at the end of the 2007/08 campaign. Last season he finished fourth in the Southern Region qualifier.
Green also competes on the South of England Cuestars circuit.
