SWINDON potter Jodie Symes climbed five places to 17th on the women’s snooker circuit after a stunning victory in the East Anglian Championship.
The 15-year-old (pictured), who attends Dorcan Technology College, outgunned Eastbourne’s Martina Lumsden 3-1 in the last 16 at Cambridge Snooker Centre.
Lumsden was ranked ten places higher on the World Ladies Billiards & Snooker Association tour.
Symes, based at Jesters Snooker Club, lost 3-0 in the quarter-finals to Portsmouth’s Emma Bonney, who went on to reach the final.
World number three Bonney, 33, a four-time WLBSA world billiards champion, said: “Jodie is a promising player and seems to have a good eye.”
In the junior event final, Symes lost 2-0 to England international Hannah Jones.
Jones, 13, from Derby, said: “Jodie’s a brilliant player and I honestly don’t know how I won. She was playing so well.”
