Three times the 14-year-old battle-hardened veteran of the junior snooker circuit clawed back a one-frame deficit to claim victory in the final stages at Woking Snooker Centre.

 

Winbourne, from Chandler’s Ford Snooker Club, beat Phil O’Kane (Sidcup) 2-1 from 1-0 down in the last-eight.

 

He repeated the feat in the semi-finals after Londoner Danny Douane took the first frame with a 92.

 

And after forcing a decider in the final against Hammad Miah, also from London, Winbourne wrapped up a 2-1 win with a 71 break.

 

Earlier, he had compiled breaks of 59, 55, 48, 47 and 41.

 

In the group stages, he beat Lewis Frampton (Weybridge, Surrey) 2-1, Rees Carter (Buckingham) 3-0, Steve Brunning (Buckingham) 3-0 and Jordan Gibbs (Hitchin) 3-0.

 

And in the last-16, he eased past Jack Filtness (Hornchurch) 2-0.

 

Third-placed Winbourne heads into next month’s fifth and final Zone 2 event, on home tables at Chandler’s Ford SC, with 577 points - 23 behind the joint leaders.

 

The top two in each of the five zones gain promotion to the EASB Premier Junior Tour. Those in third place qualify for a play-off. 

 

Winbourne’s club-mate Bouwe Bosma qualified for the knockout but went out 2-0 to Frampton in the last-16.
